April Home Maintenance & Cleaning🌸

BY: BRITTANY STUART UPDATED: 4/7/2025

Spring is here - and there’s no better time to give your home the reset it deserves!

April is one of the most important months for homeowners to take action. After months of cold, clutter, and indoor living, it’s the perfect month to refresh, repair, and get your space ready for warmer days.

Not sure what your home needs this spring?

I’ve created two super helpful checklists to make April easier:
✅ One for spring cleaning
✅ One for home maintenance

Both designed to help you refresh your space and protect your investment!

Why April Cleaning Matters

Spring is the perfect time to shake off the winter dust, declutter your home and give your space a fresh start. Spring cleaning helps you:

  • Maintain your home’s value over time

  • Free up space

  • Cut down on allergens and bacteria

  • Boost your mood and productivity

Don’t Skip These 3 April Cleaning Tasks

Before you grab the mop, start here:

  • Wash your windows (inside & out) – Let in more natural light and improve your indoor air quality. Bonus tip: use a mix of vinegar and water for a streak-free shine.

  • Clean out your fridge & pantry – Toss expired items, wipe shelves, and make space for fresh produce and grilling season.

  • Rotate your mattress & wash your pillows – Extend the life of your bedding and cut down on allergens.

Why Home Maintenance in April Is Essential

April’s mild weather makes it the perfect time to prep for summer and inspect for winter damage. You’ll also want to inspect outdoor furniture, power wash surfaces and prep your yard for growing season.

3 Home Maintenance Tasks That Make a Difference

These aren’t just “nice to do” - they help prevent expensive surprises later:

  • Test your sump pump – With spring rains around the corner, make sure your basement stays dry by checking your sump pump is working properly.

  • Clean out gutters and downspouts – Winter debris can cause backups, leaks, or even foundation issues when spring rain hits.

  • Schedule an HVAC check-up – Don’t wait until the first 80-degree day to find out your A/C isn’t working.

Taking care of your home doesn’t have to be overwhelming—it just needs to be intentional. A little effort now goes a long way toward a safer, cleaner and more valuable home. You’ll want to check out both checklists for my full recommendation on cleaning and home maintenance in April!
